A Brief History of Hidden Springs
From Cody’s Appliance Repair
Nestled near the southwestern border of Idaho lies Hidden Springs, a small community that shares a common vision: to protect and beautify their home and make it a better place for all. It is this communal spirit that has helped Hidden Springs, ID establish itself as a desirable place to raise a family, especially for those with a deep fondness for the outdoors.
The distant foothills present a dramatic backdrop against the flatlands surrounding Hidden Springs. Sparse vistas offer a sprawling view, but also allow the local farmers to produce a wide selection of organic crops like berries, flowers, and herbs. In their free time, citizens congregate at Dry Creek Mercantile, also known as the Merc, for food, wine tasting, and live music. Since folks are constantly engaged with the community, it comes as no surprise to find that the populace is so down-to-earth.
Hidden Springs is a natural draw for fitness fans and nature lovers alike thanks to its many hiking and bike trails. Runners are invigorated by the fresh air and swimmers can socialize with like-minded athletes in the Hidden Springs Swim Club. With so many public parks and community activity programs, every family is sure to find a healthy way to entertain each other.
The local Dry Creek Historical Society has been leading preservation efforts in the area since 2004, and they take special care of one of Hidden Springs’ enduring landmarks, the Schick-Ostolasa Farmstead. The Schick-Ostolasa Farmstead was one of the first productive farms in the area and stands today as one of Idaho’s oldest intact farmhouses. It remains a constant symbol of the drive shown by hard-working Idahoans in cultivating the land.
The vast landscape of Idaho hosts many exceptional locales, with Hidden Springs standing proud as a natural gem amongst them. Though small in census, it stands representative of the greater American spirit, where one only has to till the ground to make it prosperous. And, thanks in large part to a concerned and thoughtful citizenship, Hidden Springs is certain to remain a prosperous gem for generations to come.
